2 New Jersey men charged with a crime of burglary

Facing criminal charges can be difficult for any citizen to deal with. Two men are now going through this process after New Jersey State troopers arrested them for an alleged burglary in Alexandria Township. The two 24-year-old men were charged with a crime of burglary. Additional crimes charged were for drugs and weapons.

Authorities arrived at the scene of a home where a security alarm went off around 9:30 am and found that the rear door had been forced open. Police canvassed the area looking for a vehicle that matched a description provided by one of the residents of the home. After a vehicle was found that matched the description, authorities say this lead to the arrest of the two suspects.

Upon further investigation, detectives found weapons that were allegedly stolen, which also lead to the suspects being charged with weapon crimes. It is unclear if the weapons were found in the vehicle. The two suspects are awaiting their first court appearance in the Hunterdon County Jail.

Several New Jersey police units, including a burglary task force, worked the case. It is not clear if any items were taken from the home that the two men allegedly burglarized. However, authorities state further investigation led to multiple charges against the suspects, which included possession of tools to commit burglary, thefts of criminal mischief and possession of a dangerous substance.

It isn’t clear if the two men have representation. Nonetheless, it is recommended that New Jersey residents charged with a crime ensure that they have a solid understanding of their rights to help ensure that they receive fair treatment during the criminal trial process. Defendants are guaranteed the right to be presumed innocent until and only if prosecutors can prove them guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, which can be a difficult burden of proof to overcome.
