New Jersey police arrest 3 family members on drug charge

Police, who are specialized in investigating drug crimes, are always looking for ways to gather enough evidence in order for them to execute a search warrant on a targeted residence. When these search warrants are approved by a New Jersey judge, police can come down quickly on executing the approved warrant, which can lead to those inhabiting the residence facing more than oneĀ drug charge. In a recent investigation and execution of several warrants, police say that three members of a family were involved in a large drug ring that distributed large amounts of cocaine and other drugs.

Police indicated that their investigation into illegal drug activity began back in September, when neighbors tipped them off about a large amount of traffic coming and going from the family residence. As a result of their investigation, police obtained and executed a search warrant. As a result of the search, police arrested a 64-year-old man, his 40-year-old son and his 32-year-old daughter.

Police say the son was responsible for bringing in a large amount of cocaine and that the father and daughter helped him package it. Besides the search of the residence, police also executed several other warrants. In total, police say they seized over two kilograms of cocaine as well as a variety of other drugs, two firearms, six vehicles and other property.

New Jersey police must follow specific protocols in securing and executing a search warrant. If they do not follow this protocol, or they provide insufficient evidence for a judge to approve the warrant, some or all of the evidence seized in support of the drug charge may be suppressed. This could result in the case being dismissed if there is not enough other evidence to support the charges brought. Nevertheless, the three accused family members are facing a difficult road, and each may benefit from gaining an understanding of their legal rights as they fight the charges and work for the best possible result.
