Arrest made over death of New Jersey man shot and then burned in house
New Jersey residents are likely aware of a story that capture local headlines last year. In March 2011, a 59-year-old man was shot to death in his New Jersey home before it was set on fire. He was only identified because of dental records. Authorities have now arrested a man in relation to this case, and he has beenĀ charged with a crime.
The arrested man has been accused of first degree murder and second degree aggravated arson, as well as a number of other charges. Authorities indicated their belief that the arrested man began stalking the victim after he discovered the victim was having an affair with the accused man’s wife. No details of the affair or the activities that were said to constitute stalking were disclosed.
Clearly, this individual in question has a difficult road ahead of him now that he has been formally charged with a crime, several in fact. It remains unclear as to whether or not any physical evidence was recovered at the crime scene to prove the accused man was present in the home, let alone guilty of murder or arson. Those issues and more will likely be confronted in the weeks and months to come, but the man will surely benefit from understanding and seeking to protect all of his important legal rights as he fights against the allegations lodged against him.
