Heroin, cocaine and handgun seized during New Jersey drug deal

On Tuesday, April 24, detectives searched a 27-year-old’s home on Aldine Street in Newark after they claim they witnessed a drug deal. Two men, ages 43 and 49, supposedly approached the 27-year-old, who purportedly took items from a bag and exchanged them with the two men for cash. It was the Essex County Sheriff’s department that just so happened to come across this alleged drug deal recently in Newark, resulting in the consequential drug charges.

Upon searching the 27-year-old man’s house, detectives say they found over 200 glassine envelopes full of what was said to be heroin, about half a pound of cocaine, a prescription bottle full of bullets and a .22 caliber handgun, which was loaded. The 27-year-old is now at the Essex County Correctional Facility.

He has received a number of drug charges and weapon offenses. The two men involved in the alleged drug deal were charged with drug possession, and another individual was taken into custody for trying to flee the house after tossing a bag of what police say was heroin. She remains at the jail due to a separate criminal warrant for her arrest.

All the individuals could face drug charge consequences. If they are convicted, these consequences could range from time in prison and probation to fines and community service. It would do the individuals well to learn of their rights under New Jersey law, including questioning the collection of evidence and analyzing police reports.
